To request a non-NHS service, click here to visit our Anima service and select "Admin request"

  • Complete an Anima request
  • Add details of the service you wish to request
  • Add details of any supporting information
  • We will be in contact with you to arrange payment and any other information required

Our admin team will contact you about the fee for the work you have requested and explain how this can be paid.

All fees for services are payable in advance and we are unable to start any work on your request until the payment is received.

We accept cash only and unfortunately, are unable to take cheque or card payments.

Fees for private certificates and reports cover the cost of the time taken by a GP to review your full medical record and for the responsibility they accept when providing their signature. Your full record is checked to ensure that it is accurate and to exclude any information which could compromise the confidentiality of a 3rd party.

The NHS provides most health services to people free of charge, but there are some exceptions: prescription charges have existed since 1951 and there are a number of other services for which fees are charged. Sometimes the charge is made to cover some of the cost of treatment, for example, dental fees; in other cases, it is because the service is not covered by the NHS, for example, providing copies of health records or producing medical reports for insurance companies.

The Government’s contract with GP’s covers medical services to NHS patients. In recent years more organisations have been involving doctors in a range of non-medical work. Sometimes the only reason that GP’s are asked is because they are in a position of trust in the community or because an insurance company or employer wants to be sure that information provided is true and accurate.

With certain limited exceptions (e.g. a GP confirming that one of their patients is not fit for jury service) GPs DO NOT have to carry out non-NHS work on behalf of their patients.  Whilst GPs will always attempt to assist their patients with the completion of forms, for example for insurance purposes, they are not required to do such non-NHS work.

GP’s are not employed by the NHS, they are self-employed and they have to cover their costs – staff, buildings, heating, lighting, etc. in the same way as any small business. The NHS covers these costs for NHS work, but for non-NHS work, the fee has to cover the doctors costs.

Time spent completing forms and preparing reports takes the GP away from the medical care of patients. Most GP’s have a very heavy workload and paperwork takes up an increasing amount of their time. Many GP’s find they have to take paperwork home at night and weekends.

When a doctor signs a certificate or report, it is a condition of the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true. In order to complete even the simplest of forms, the doctor might have to read a patient’s entire medical record and exclude any information that could compromise the confidentiality of a third party.

Please do not expect your GP to process forms under 28days, the same day or overnight.

GP’s and practice staff are busy with NHS work, we therefore advise of a 28 day turnaround for any non-NHS (private non-priority work).

Failure to attend for a medical appointment without notification to the practice (within 1hour of appointment start time) will result in non-refundable retention of £50.00 of payment.
